TOPIC: Cannot start urbi server + Red status indicator

Cannot start urbi server + Red status indicator 8 years, 7 months ago #105

Hello,

I have major problems with Reeti start up:
-- after starting Reeti the Reeti home is ok: the status indicator in quick setup bar is green; I do not get any prompt for updates.
-- switch to Rconfiguration --> switch to Developer mode (with exec of script reetiDev.sh):
-- check if urbi server is running is negative!
-- the examination of /home/reeti/.xsession-errors reveals lot of problems (I attach this file at the end):
-- just a short list from .xsession-errors:
(gnome-session:1422): Gtk-WARNING **: Theme parsing error: gtk-widgets.css:57:19: Not using units is deprecated. Assuming 'px'.
(compiz:1636): Gtk-WARNING **: Theme parsing error: gtk-widgets.css:1597:20: Invalid animation description
(nautilus:1674): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_action_set_visible: assertion `GTK_IS_ACTION (action)' failed
Failed to play sound: File or data not found
Failed to set control "Brightness": Input/output error
-- there are 3 tries to start up the URBI server:
[00003178] *** Urbi SDK version 2.6 rev. d949607
ReetiHead: Device is NULL... can't open device
UReetiHead: FIRMWARE FILE NOT FOUND...
UConnect initialized Dec 7 2011 14:04:10 Actual Version: 1.2 Release Date: 29_11_2011
[00020497] *** load du serveur

-- here it looks like urbi is started OK, but the urbi process cannot be found.

compiz (core) - Warn: this should never happen. you should probably file a bug about this.
WARN 2013-04-30 15:23:29 glib <unknown>:0 Unable to fetch children: Method "Children" with signature "" on interface "org.ayatana.bamf.view" doesn't exist
(end of list from .xsession-errors).

Under the developper mode, the interface looks more or less normal: I can work with Ubuntu software.
The system is connected to the web (I can work with Firefox).
However when I return, via Launcher icon, to the Reeti home, the Status indicator is solid red abd stays so.

I am attaching .xsession-errors (complete file, abridged file) end dmesg trace file.

It looks really bad: any help would be appreciated!

We have a pending ticket with Developper mode interface button that sometimes does not kill urbi server and its restarters correctly.

Until we solve the problem, just do it "manually" :
- clic on "Ubuntu" icon instead od "Developper mode"
- kill urbi server and its restarters :
sudo pkill urbi*
sudo pkill restarter*
(you can put these two lines in a kill.sh script on Desktop)

Then run reetiDev.sh

Just tell us if the problem is still here with this procedure.

By following your procedure, I do get urbi server running (checked with ps -e |grep urbi), but:
-- the Launcher icon on the desktop stays red
-- I still get a lot of disquieting messages in .xsession-errors:
Examples:
Failed to play sound: File or data not found
Failed to set control "Brightness": Input/output error
Failed to set control "White Balance Temperature": Input/output error
Failed to set control "Exposure (Absolute)": Input/output error
Failed to set control "Brightness": Input/output error
Failed to set control "White Balance Temperature": Input/output error
Failed to set control "Exposure (Absolute)": Input/output error
Serveur En écoute sur : 147.171.68.89 (this must be urbi server I guess)
VIDIOC_G_FMT: Invalid argument
...

You should have urbi running in a console.
Try to execute an Urbi command in the console : Global.tts.say("Hello");

Could you please send me a copy of the content of the urbi console ?
