Hi,

It looks like a problem on usb.
Can you send me the result of command "lsusb"
If you have something connected on usb, can you also try without it.

Hi,

I had a USB memory stick (the one comes with Reeti) plugged in to a USB port located at Reeti's back. I removed it and did the whole procedure again. Still no response! Following is what lsusb command shows:

reeti@reeti:~$ lsusb
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub

We can not see any device which is plugged on the internal usb hub.
My conclusion is that the internal hub is out of order.
It is covered by warranty but we need to do it in our factory.
I contact Robotshop and I let you know about return procedure.

Hi Christophe, Chuck and Mohammad here...

Regarding your diagnosis of the internal USB Hub failure, I was wondering if that is consistent with the *first* error log line below. This is the *new* error that has appeared now that Reeti is failing to boot. The second line below, which is the one that mentions USB, has appeared all the time that Reeti has been working fine for us.

Mon Mar 18 16:40:59 2013Error 2.1. ReetiHead: Device is NULL... can't open device !
Mon Mar 18 16:40:59 2013 Error 1.1: ReetiHead Error: No USB Port found (Normal or BootLoader mode)

Also, just to let you know where I am going, I am hoping that maybe we can debug this remotely with your help (we are capable of replacing a component if needed) rather than going through the overhead of a full return. Or maybe not...

Btw, *after* we reset the power supplies as you recommended and Reeti still didn't boot, we *did* apply the updates to the Reeti software that the system requested.

One more thing: After updating the software, one more thing we tried was the "Relaunch PIC" option button. No happiness.

Thanks, -Chuck

P,S. I notice that the error log goes to back 2012-05-23???

Re: Reeti's not responding! 6 years, 9 months ago #90

The PIC relaunch button did not break anything. It is for future evolutions if we do some updates in PIC software (electronic board for motors control). Right now there is no hex file to replace the embedded one. I think that's why there is alway the second error message. I din't remember precisely. I will need to check that at the office when I will be back on Wednesday.

However I really think the hub is dead.

It is not really hard to replace it and it's cool if you want to try to do it.
You will need a torx screwdriver (the T15 one), a magnetizer (unless if you screwdriver is rather new), double face scotch, some tiraps and a the new usb hub. I will seek a US online shop for all that and I will do the purchase.
I will also take some pictures and a video to show you how to do all that.
